The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center recently released a list of the ten most common poisons that dogs ingest. What is immediately striking about the list is how ordinary each of the poisons is—most of us have these compounds in our homes or garages. The list is a reminder that it is important to keep medications and potentially toxic items locked up or stored safely away from our pets.
Many of our friends are welcoming new plants into their home, and yard during this time (your pet sitters and dog walkers included!). Make sure your plants are safe all your four legged family members.
Contrary to popular belief, cats ARE social animals. While they may not be greeting you at the door with a wagging tail, they do enjoy the companionship of their human servants (US!) Learn more about how cats benefit from regular cat sitting visits.
Where does a Wonder Pug go when they just need a little break from all their superhero duties? I vote PubDog!
I visited my friends at Colorado Canine Orthopedics & Rehab (and brought my human, Susan, to take lots of fun photos!) Read more to find out what services they offer, and why I give them 4 PAWS UP!
Many of us have protocol set in place for an emergency, whether at home or at work. However, have you prepared your pet for an emergency situation as well? Colorado is no stranger to extreme weather, ranging from blizzards to wildfires, and all in between. Our goal at PlayTime Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers is to keep your pet safe, whether in your care or ours.
On May 4th, 2018, the students from the North Middle School Public Achievement Club held a Pet Information Fair to raise awareness for Animal Rights in the community. The students organized this incredible event, which included multiple booths, a raffle, goodie bags, treats and lots of FUN! They invited various organizations with a passion for the fair and ethical treatment of animals, including PlayTime Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers. The students and attendees then had the oppurtunity to chat with these organizations, and learn more about the services offered for animals in the community.
PlayTime Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers were honored to be asked to be a part of this event, and were astounded by the brilliance and passion of all the young minds we met that day. We got the chance to chat with Max Blackburn, the Public Achievement Coach, to learn more about the organization, and to reflect on what the students learned throughout the process of developing the Pet Information Fair.
We feed, water, walk, cuddle, play with and love on your pets. But, we also do so much more!

Not only is Susan McIntyre, owner of PlayTime Pet Sitters & Dog Walkers, an inspirational business woman, she’s also pretty darn funny. We had a quick catch-up to find out a little more about the heart behind the most trusted pet sitting business in Colorado Springs.
What do most people not know about you?
Though I’ve developed a slight fear of heights as I’ve grown older, I still enjoy skiing, flying in ultralight planes, skydiving and parasailing. Anything really that involves extreme heights. Go figure!
What scared you most about starting your own business?
Not being able to support myself. I had no safety net. I was recently divorced, prior to which, I’d also given up a career in management to go back to school.
What are some of your greatest triumphs since starting PlayTime Pet Sitters & Dog Walkers?
That I am still here; that PlayTime has survived over 20 years. Pet sitting and dog walking businesses come and go quickly, but we are still providing quality care to so many animals and their people—after all this time! We’ve been able to help a vast amount of animals through supporting incredible rescue organizations, and have diligently gained the trust of numerous special needs animals, too.
What do you love most about what you do?
We make a difference—to animals and their people.
What would your 8-year old self say if she met you now?
This is the best you could do? We were going to save all the animals. We were at least going set all the caged ones free!
We’ve got to know, if you could be any animal what would it be?
Cat. Always a cat. But if cat wasn’t available I would go with elephant or bison. Assuming mammoth isn’t an option.
What should all new and potential clients know about PlayTime Pet Sitters & Dog Walkers?
We are good people. We really care about your animals and have every pet’s best interest at heart. So many animal-related businesses don’t. This isn’t just a job for us. Our lives revolve around caring for animals. We take a tailored approach with each and every pet we sit for, which is why we ask all clients to fill out a lengthy questionnaire. Our sole aim is to care for your animals exactly as they need, with respect and excellence.
