Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Colorado Springs

We have been happily serving all Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs since 1997. That’s over 20 years of keeping pets safe, healthy and very happy. We are the oldest (and highest rated) professional pet sitting and dog walking company in Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs.

We happily service all Colorado Springs, most of Manitou Springs, and some outlying areas. This includes, but is not limited to: The Broadmoor, Old North End, Black Forest, Rockrimmon, Northgate, Briargate, West Side, Downtown, Southeast Colorado Springs, and Old Colorado City.

No. Our team is extremely experienced at looking after several different kinds of pets, cats and dogs of course, but fish (fresh and saltwater), turtles, toads, hedgehogs, lizards, ducks, chinchillas, chickens, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, frogs, toads, mice, rats, ferrets, pigs, tarantulas, sugar gliders, snakes and horses, too. We even cared for a pet hissing cockroach once.

Did we forget anyone? Not to worry. We love and respect them all.

If you are planning on going away and leaving your pet at home it is crucial for their health, safety, and wellbeing that they are checked on at least once a day. We recommend a minimum of three times a day for dogs. Many people believe their pets are self sufficient, but there many things they can’t do on their own, such as open a tin of food or fetch their own water. Even at short notice, we will always be on hand to care for your pets.

Most definitely! That’s one of the many benefits of hiring professionals. As a team, we are highly experienced at administering pills, injections and fluids. And we are one of the few pet sitting companies that don’t charge for it. There are rare occasions when two sitters are needed to administer medication. It’s the only time we add a small fee.

Yes. As one of our many emergency backup procedures, we will ask you to fill out an Emergency Transportation & Vet Authorization Form. This gives us permission to take your pet to the vet and authorises the vet to treat them. Our standard practice is for you to name a preferred veterinarian. If your veterinarian is closed at the time, we will take them to an emergency animal hospital.

Absolutely! Some of our clients leave us pages of instructions. We take time and care to follow them to the letter. Others text or email us instructions while they are away. We make sure we follow those to the letter too. During our initial free consultation, we spend time finding out as much as possible about your pet so we know exactly what to do to keep them feeling, safe, secure, respected, and happy.

Yes. In fact, we encourage you to. Dogs need regular potty breaks. Holding a bladder full of urine for hours can be extremely detrimental to their health.

These are our recommendations for the minimum number of scheduled visits you need to ensure your pet stays happy, healthy, and safe. Of course, we are delighted to visit them more frequently.

Dogs: 3 or more visits a day*

1 Cat: 1 or more visits every other day

Over 2 Cats: 1 or more visits a day

Birds, Rodents, Reptiles, Fish: 1 or more visits a day

Do you have a pet that takes medication? No problem. Pets taking time-sensitive medications get top priority. Whether they are on medication or not, we recommend booking visits that stay as close to their regular schedule as possible. Sticking to their routine will make things less stressful for them.

*Recommendations for dogs are based on the assumption that they rely solely on PlayTime Pet Sitters & Dog Walkers to go potty (they don’t have a doggie door or use potty pads). If that’s the case, we require that dogs get at least three visits per day. Any less can be painful for your dog and cause serious health/bladder issues.

Yes you can. We are happy to pass on the numbers of established clients who have indicated their willingness to talk to new clients about the quality of services we offer. Just email us at 475paws@gmail.com or call 719-475-7297 and we’ll get you connected.

We do our very best to fulfil requests at short notice; however, if a last-minute appointment is made within 24hrs of the visit time, there is an additional $13 fee. If it’s made within 48hrs of the visit time there is an additional $7 fee.

You’ll have three sitters assigned to your pet (one main and two backup). Your main pet sitter will usually look after your pet when you go away (you’ll meet them during your free initial consultation). For the sake of providing appropriate care for your pet we don’t allow you to choose a sitter, but we’re confident you will be delighted with the warm-hearted professionals we assign to you.

We provide a main pet sitter and two backups for your pet just to be sure they will always be covered. Our three pet sitters will always be the same. On occasion pet sitters do change. If that happens, we will introduce you to your new sitters prior to them caring for your pet whenever feasible.

  1. We will come to your home at a convenient time and introduce ourselves to you and your pet. If they are shy or anxious we will be extremely respectful of that.
  1. We will spend time getting to know your pet’s likes and dislikes, where their food is kept, where their favourite toys are hidden, their medications, and any other important particulars that will enhance our care for them.
  1. We will always ask if there is anything else we can do, such as water plants or bring in mail.
  1. Before leaving, we will pick up three keys and ensure they work in the locks and, of course, say a warm goodbye to your pet.

We take the opportunity to enter your home and care for your beloved munchkin(s) very seriously. Here’s what to expect when we visit.

  1. When we first arrive we will greet your pet, check they are healthy and well, and care for them as you have requested. Only then will we water your plants, bring in the mail and take out the garbage (or anything else you have asked us to do).
  1. If your munchkins allow us, we will take pictures and send them to you via text or email. We will also send a short description of how the visit is going to reassure you that they are doing well.
  1. When your pet has been fed, watered, brushed, cuddled, and tummy rubbed, we will write a detailed report of everything that took place during the visit so you know exactly what we got up to while you were away.
  1. Before leaving, we will do a final check to ensure your pet and your home are both safe and sound until the next visit.

Yes, we are fully bonded and insured, and have been since 1997, so you can rest assured that your pets are in safe, secure hands.

You can leave us a check on the counter top (please ensure it is marked with the date of the first day of service and not post dated). You can leave full payment in cash or you can securely enter preferred payment details online. If you don’t have online payment details and forget to leave us a check or cash, we charge a late payment fee of $10. For larger reservations and holidays, we do ask for pre-payment before your appointment will be approved.

For all the years we’ve served as pet sitters, no pets have passed away in our care. But, should you want to, you can leave official instructions. Many vets now have a HIPPA form for pets, which acts as a sort of living will. You can tell us in advance what your wishes are for treatment in the worst case scenario. It also tells us how much we are authorized to spend to save them or ease them out of pain.

The bottom line is, we are ALWAYS going to do what is best for your friend, no matter what.
